Improving Data on the Workforce Delivering Home and Community-Based Services

On April 25, 2024, HHS and DoL released recommendations, in the form of an Issue Brief, to improve data infrastructure on the workforce delivering home and community-based services (HCBS) in response to President Biden’s Executive Order 14095: Increasing Access to High-Quality Care and Supporting Caregivers. The importance of these workers to the United States economy, combined with the increasing demand for services and persistent job quality, recruitment, and retention challenges in the sector make it critical that policymakers have data that can be used to support the HCBS workforce and track the impacts of policy changes over time. Implementing these recommendations will drive data-informed policy decisions to improve the quality of and access to HCBS for the millions of Americans who are receiving or need these services.

There will be a webinar on May 21, 2024, which will feature a discussion of these recommendations by HHS, DoL and a non-federal panel of leaders and innovators in the field.
