Roy Brunson

Job Titles
Deputy Director of Office of Planning and Policy Support (OPPS) and Director of Financial Management

Roy joined ASPE in 2005 as a Senior Management Analyst in the Office of Planning and Policy Support (OPPS). He currently serves as the Deputy Director of OPPS and Director of Financial Management where he has primary responsibilities for establishing and overseeing ASPE’s systems of internal control, the annual budget process, reporting and analysis, and space planning and logistical support. Roy works closely with the OPPS leadership team in establishing and executing the OPPS strategic plan and works across the various functional areas within OPPS on a host of high-profile initiatives in support of ASPE.

Roy has dedicated most of his career working for public health organizations including Africare, where he worked as Senior Budget Analyst and Procurement and Supplies Director; the National Association of People with AIDS (NAPWA), where he worked as Director of Finance and Administration; and at John Snow, Inc. (JSI), where he held a variety of senior financial management positions including Internal Auditor and Deputy Comptroller. During his 13 years of service at JSI based in Rosslyn, Virginia, Roy also worked in Kenya for 4 years as the Director of Finance and Administration on JSI’s Family Planning for Private Sector Program with USAID.

At HHS, Roy has developed and implemented administrative and financial management systems, processes, and procedures including creating various tools and learning aids designed to improve administrative and financial management reporting by program and budget staff.

Roy holds a degree in Economics from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine. He also studied Business at the American University in Washington, D.C., and Organizational Management at the Institute for European Studies in Vienna, Austria.
