Interventions for Addressing Prolonged Youth Homelessness

Publication Date

This brief aims to arm service providers with information regarding available evidence about interventions to prevent or reduce prolonged youth homelessness, in order to support providers in using their resources as efficiently and effectively as possible.

Although not much is known about interventions specifically addressing prolonged youth homelessness, this brief highlights interventions that have had success with similar populations in addressing characteristics and experiences that are also associated with prolonged youth homelessness and merit further investigation. These promising interventions include:

  • Supportive housing;
  • Social Enterprise Intervention;
  • Coordinated Specialty Care; and
  • Functional Family Therapy.
