Erin Rubens is the Director of the Division of Science and Public Health Policy within the Office of Science and Data Policy. In this role, Erin leads a multidisciplinary team of analysts and economists to conduct policy analysis, research and coordination focused on public health and biomedical science issues and initiatives. Erin originally joined ASPE in 2013 as FDA Team Lead, managing a portfolio related to policies and programs of the US Food and Drug Administration.
Prior to joining ASPE, from 2010 to 2013, Erin was a Senior Research Associate/Research Associate with the Engelberg Center for Health Care Reform at The Brookings Institution. In this role, she managed a portfolio of work related to biomedical innovation, medical product safety, and comparative effectiveness research. Between 2004 and 2008, Erin worked for the health care and human services consulting firm The Lewin Group. As a Senior Associate on the firm’s federal health policy team, Erin provided analytic and project management support for projects related to regulation and reimbursement of medical products, evidence synthesis in support of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality’s Evidence-Based Practice Centers Program and clinical practice guideline development, and a range of other topics. Erin served for one year (2003-2004) as part of the National AIDS Partnership AmeriCorps team, providing HIV/AIDS-related health education, outreach, and testing services to at risk Northern Virginia youth. Erin holds Bachelor of Arts degrees in Biology and Psychology from the University of Virginia, and Master of Public Health and Master of Business Administration degrees from the Johns Hopkins University. Erin is a Northern Virginia native and currently lives in Falls Church with her husband, two small children and dog.
