October 24, 2022 — Advisory Council

During the meeting, the Advisory Council heard presentations on access to long-term services and supports as well as end-of-life challenges for people living with ADRD. July 25, 2022 — Advisory Council

During the meeting, the Advisory Council heard updates from federal workgroups on efforts undertaken in the last quarter and an overview of the National Institutes of Health budget for Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD) research. The National Institute on Aging gave a presentation on their Resource Centers for Minority Aging Research (RCMAR) program. The Advisory Council’s research, clinical care, long-term services and supports, and risk reduction subcommittees presented recommendations and the Council voted on adopting them. May 2-3, 2022 — Advisory Council

During this meeting, the Advisory Council celebrated accomplishments since the release of the first National Plan to Address Alzheimer’s Disease in May 2012. On May 2, the Advisory Council heard panel presentations on recent research on biomarkers and therapeutics. On May 3, the Dementia Nomenclature Initiative presented an update to the Advisory Council, and there was a panel of presentations about dementia risk reduction. January 24, 2022 — Advisory Council

During this meeting, the Advisory Council heard about the National Plan to Address Alzheimer’s Disease: 2021 Update, as well as updates from federal agencies. The Advisory Council also heard presentations about dementia risk reduction for veterans, and research on the potential relationship between COVID-19 and dementia. The Advisory Council also heard about a recent report on the current capacity of the dementia care workforce. A panel presented on dementia assessment tools for special populations, such as individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Finally, the Advisory Council heard from a panel on the inclusion of caregivers in clinical care settings, including those in rural communities.
